Mystic Marks Tattoo Co.

Founded in 1993 by local artist and TSU alumni Jan Van Zandt,  we are San Marcos' first and finest in tattoos and body piercings.

Jan earned her Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts from Southwest Texas University and went on to teach art at Gonzales High School.  She retired in 1993 and went with a friend to get a tattoo.  Unsatisfied with the skill of the artist, she decided to bring a lifetime of art experience and professionalism to the tattoo industry by opening Mystic Marks Tattoo Co., the first tattoo shop in San Marcos.  Her son, Corey, helped her with building machines and tattooed part-time.  As word of mouth spread, he soon became a full-time artist as well.

It wasn't long before body piercing began it's rise to popularity and Corey apprenticed long distance to bring safe, sterile piercing to the area as well.

Jan passed in 2012, and Corey continues to run the shop so that her legacy lives on.
